Life After Manny

Life without Manny. Have the Red Sox really lost anything? Let’s compare some stats. In his first weekend as a Dodger, Ramirez went 8-13 (.615), with 2 homers, 3 RBIs and two runs scored. Meanwhile, Bay went 6-11 (.533) with a triple, a homer, 4 runs, 3 RBIs and 3 walks.

The part I like best about the trade is that now Manny is playing for Joe Torre. I don’t know why but the thought of that just delights me some how! After his first 11 days as a Dodger Manny still had not cut his hair. (The first request from his new manager.) Finally on August 14 Manny show up with his new do! Doen’t look much different to you? Not to Joe Torre either! Torre claims, “IF he comes back next year, it will be shorter.”  What’s the matter Joe? It’s just Manny being Manny! Now I’m sure many of Manny’s former teammates are happy to see the back of Manny. I have heard all the tales of Manny refusing to play when certain pitcher’s were on the mound, his refusal to pinch hit on nights when he thought he was “promised the night off.” None of these things can or should be tolerated, but I for one loved the look on Bud Selig’s face when he found out Manny refused to attend the 2006 All-Star Game.

Manny may not be as valuable to the Red Sox as he proclaimed himself to be, but my fear is that things just may get a little too boring in Red Sox Nation without him.

Im Bored!

Fenway Park

Fenway Park

Some things should never change. As the New York Yankees prepare to tear down the House that Ruth Built, Red Sox fans continue to enjoy the beauty of Fenway Park, thier home since 1912.

Yanks Are Coming!

Yankees vs Red Sox

Yankees vs Red Sox

The Red Sox and Rays sit atop the American League East tonight as the Yankees come into town.  Joba Chamberlain will take the mound as a starter facing Josh Beckett. From what I have read it seems as if he will have to face chants of “Jus-tin! Jus-tin!” from the Fenway crowd. Apparently Justin is Joba’s given name, a name his niece couldn’t pronounce as a baby. Joba made the mistake of letting it be known that he dislikes being called Justin. You can read more about this on Boston Dirt Dogs.com.

David Ortiz  will be back in the lineup tonight for the first time since going on the DL. Just in time to face the Yankees. He will have to do his best without Manny in the lineup. It will be interesting to see who will be in 1st place come Monday morning!

Bulletin: on Red Sox original design bandanas- there are only 8 left in size M/L. No more stock on these until October! You can get these at Brown Dog Treasures.com (Fenway Dog’s parent company) with FREE shipping!
