Opening Day at Fenway 2009

Posted by anskyann on April 10, 2009

After having to postpone due to rain, the festivites finally got underway at Fenway on April 7th. Since we were unable to attend, I began scouring the internet for photos and videos so that I could try to get a feel for what it was like.

I found this video on You Tube and it became my favorite.

Birds of a Feather?

Posted by anskyann on March 2, 2009

It  seems that Red Sox and Orioles fans have something in common. Their animosity toward Mark Teixeira. I found this You Tube video on another blog, (a very good one) called Big League Stew. I thought I would pass it along.

Carlton Fisk Waiting Tables?

Posted by anskyann on January 28, 2009

1117making-dog-foodIt could only happen in Red Sox Nation!  In mid- November Purina Alpo opened a “dogs only” restaurant on Newbury Street . The restaurant opened for two days only to serve up free dinners to Boston area dogs. During this event Carlton Fisk actually served as a waiter.

“During the season of giving, what better way for Boston dog owners to show their four-legged friends how much they love them than by taking them out for a delicious, mouth-watering meal,” said Red Sox Hall of Famer and dog lover Carlton Fisk. “Our dogs are truly our best friends and there’s nothing they deserve more than a fun night out with other canine ‘can-noisseurs’ at the hottest new restaurant in town.”

The dogs dined on rustic wooden benches with doggie-themed menus and place settings. In addition to being served dinner, the dogs and their owners were invited to have their photos taken with owners in a photo booth. Mass Paws, a Boston area rescue group,  also stopped by with rescue dogs available for adoption.

Purina Alpo donated $8000 to local area shelters.

Rain Delay…

Rain delay at Fenway
Rain delay at Fenway

As the rain continues to pour down on Fenway Park this evening, the Yanks must sit and watch their season float away.

Manager Francona today expressed relief over the fact that this year’s ending Yankees-Red Sox series would not be a repeat of the high drama, high stakes series that we have all come to know in the past.

The Red Sox have not yet announced a possible starting rotation for the first round of the playoffs, scheduled to begin on Wednesday. They are expected to use only three starting pictures.
